Since 2007 there have been major advances in the provision of computer facilities in the Coláiste Éanna. Information technology has become an integral part of the learning experience. Pupils in the junior years have timetabled lessons and Transition Year pupils undertake the ECDL course. Coláiste Éanna is an accredited ECDL examining centre.
There are two Computer Rooms, with 30 networked PC’s and a digital projector in each. A wired network covers all of the school buildings and internet access is delivered via a high-speed broadband connection. We also have a number of demonstration rooms with interactive whiteboards. Our staff have taken on the teaching and learning opportunities of this technology enthusiastically. In recent years many have successfully completed the ECDL course and plans are in place for Moodle. All teachers have a PC and digital projector in their classrooms, enabling the use of a range of multimedia teaching resources.
With the development of the school website teachers will have the opportunity to interact with students over the internet. This will allow pupils to access work from any computer with an internet connection, whether at home or at school.
