Transition Year (TY) is a one-year programme taken after Junior Cycle and before the two-year Leaving Certificate programme. It is designed to act as a bridge between the Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate programmes. TY is optional in Coláiste Éanna, with the majority of students choosing to complete the programme.
Formal exams are completed in the core subjects of English, Irish, Maths and language at both Christmas and End of Year. Assessment in other subjects and modules is usually carried out on an ongoing basis and can include a school-based credit system for projects or portfolios, practical and written activities.
All students will organise and complete a two-week work experience and community care activity during the course of the year. Dates for these activities are predetermined by the school.
