  • The Knights of Éanna & the Visit to the Dark

    When the school bell rang at 12.55 on Wednesday 8th September, the day was just beginning for the members of the Knights of Éanna Chess Club.  We were travelling to the Dark Side of School Chess – our first meeting with Gonzaga College, the All Ireland Chess Champions in 2011.  Our excitement was high as we saw this as a golden opportunity to announce the arrival of the Knights of Éanna on Chess in Dublin. As the club was only established last year, with the help of Mr. McGovern and Mr Grant, we were realistic enough to accept that we would not beat Gonzaga, but at least we might create a dent in their armour.   • Past Pupils achieve All-Ireland Minor Success.

    All Ireland Minors

    Congratulations to both Niall Scully and Lorcan Molloy (Class of 2012) who played on the winning All-Ireland Minor Team yesterday. Dublin had a comfortable win over Meath with a score line of 0-14 to 1-5. Niall got two points from play and Lorcan made several great saves throughout the game. Both students represented Coláiste Éanna at all ages for football. It is a great achievemnet for the lads involved as it has been twenty eight years since Dublin won a minor title. We also extend our congratulations to Mr O'Malley, one of our PE teachers, who was a part of the Mayo panel that took part in the All-Ireland Football Final yesterday.   • U16 Hurling Team success against Clonkeen College

    Well done to our Under 16 hurlers who had a good win over Clonkeen College on a score of 4.15 to 3.7. Éanna were much improved from their last performance and scored an early goal through Warren Egan. Aidan Mellet abd Darragh Langan added two goals in the second half, as well as a second half strike from Warren Egan. It was an excellent team performance with Neil Hester and Barry Lyons outstanding in defence.   • Victory for Senior Hurling Team against St Benildus College

    Well done to the senior hurling team on a fine win away to St Benildus College on Friday by a score of 4-14 to 9 points.  An excellent all round team performance was led by fine performances by Jack McDonnell and Tom Hanafin in defence, the midfield pair of Fionn Maguire and captain Darragh O Shea, and Tim O Connor and Colm Basquel in attack.

    Our Student Council are organising a Jersey Day in aid of the Umbrella Foundation next Friday September 14th. Conor Fox (Past Pupil) who works with the foundation visited classes today. He talked about the children who have been abandoned, trafficked and orphaned in Nepal. He outlined the challenges that face the organisation in terms of raising much needed funds and he thanked the staff and students for their on-going support.
