1st Year Football Success

Well done to the first year football team who were triumphant over Benildus yesterday afternoon. Éanna got off to a poor start as they were 1:03 to 0:01 point down after just six minutes. They continued to slip behind but had pulled it back to seven points at the break. The Éanna lads knew that they could do much better and were very focused on the task in the second half. They were first to the ball and took all of the scoring chances. Excellent goals from Daniel O Riordan, Ciaran Cashman and two goals from Connor Hagen gave the Eanna lads belief in their ability.

The Éanna footballers kept it tight at the back only allowing Benildus 3 points in the second half through great defending by Kieran Kennedy, Adam Furlong and Daniel Hurst. This match was going to go right to the end and when the Benildus mid-fielder took a blistering shot at goal, Elliot Mallon was seen flying through the air to make a save that bounced off the post and into the save hands of Eoghan McGarvey when we heard the sound of the final whistle.

Coláiste Éanna won by 2 points on a score line of 4:08 to 2:12. We play St. Fintans HS of Sutton in the semi final which is to be played at home next week.
